El laurato de metilo es el éster metílico de ácido graso del ácido láurico. Puede obtenerse a partir del aceite de coco y se utiliza como intermedio para detergentes, emulsionantes, agentes humectantes, lubricantes y plastificantes. Es un líquido incoloro de olor graso y floral.
