El estearato de metilo es el éster metílico del ácido octadecanoico. Es un intermedio para detergentes de ácido esteárico, emulsionantes, agentes humectantes, estabilizantes, resinas, lubricantes y plastificantes. También se utiliza como lubricante en los sectores textil y de moldeo.
