El borato de zinc es un polvo inorgánico blanco de composición variable. Actúa como retardante de llama y supresor de humo en plásticos, caucho y revestimientos. Se utiliza en combinación con compuestos halogenados y otros retardantes de llama para mejorar el comportamiento frente al fuego. El nombre de registro es ácido bórico, sal de zinc.
