L'n-butanolo è un alcol primario utilizzato come solvente in pitture, rivestimenti e vernici. È anche un intermedio per butil acrilato ed eteri glicolici. In cromatografia funge da modificatore della fase mobile. Ulteriori applicazioni di solventi includono resine naturali e sintetiche, gomme, oli vegetali, coloranti e alcaloidi. Il materiale è un liquido incolore. I formati di imballaggio registrati includono fusti in acciaio da 170 kg, IBC da 1000 litri e cisterne per rinfuse.
