Alkydhars is een polyesterhars gemodificeerd met vetzuren of drogende oliën. Het dient als filmvormend bindmiddel in architecturale verven en industriële coatings. De hars fungeert ook als bindmiddel in email en vernis. Het ruwe harsmateriaal is een stroperige vloeistof met een gele tot amberkleurige kleur.
