Diethyleenglycol, of DEG, is een glycoloplosmiddel en hydroxyether. Het wordt gebruikt als tussenproduct in polyurethaan en onverzadigde polyesterharsen. Andere toepassingen zijn onder meer het verzachten van textiel, weekmakers, oppervlakteactieve stoffen, extractie van petroleumoplosmiddelen en dehydratatie van aardgas. Het dient ook bij de productie van triethyleenglycol.
