Propargylalcohol ziet eruit als een heldere, kleurloze tot lichtgele vloeistof. Propargylalcohol is een acetyleenalcohol. Het wordt gebruikt als corrosieremmer bij industriële zuurreiniging en stimulatie van olieveldputten. Het dient ook als tussenproduct voor farmaceutische producten en landbouwchemicaliën. Andere toepassingen zijn onder meer oplosmiddelstabilisatie en het voorkomen van waterstofbrosheid in staal. Farmaceutisch gebruik vereist de toepasselijke farmacopeekwaliteit.
