MGDA (Trisodium Dicarboxymethyl Alaninate) is recorded in chemical inventories as trisodium 2-[bis(carboxylatomethyl)amino]propanoate and as alanine, N,N-bis(carboxymethyl)-, trisodium salt, and is also called trisodium methylglycinediacetate. It is a chelating agent used as a builder and complexing agent. Applications include detergents, automatic dishwashing products, industrial cleaners and cosmetic formulations. It takes the form of clear yellowish liquid or white crystalline powder. Recorded packaging formats include 25 kg bags (powder), 250 kg plastic drums (liquid) and 1000 kg IBC (liquid).
