Dichloormethaan, ook wel methyleenchloride genoemd, is een vluchtig gechloreerd oplosmiddel. Het wordt gebruikt bij extractie, proceschemie en speciale reiniging. Andere toepassingen zijn onder meer het gebruik als procesoplosmiddel bij de farmaceutische productie en filmcoatings en als metaalreinigingsmiddel. Het materiaal is een heldere, kleurloze, zeer vluchtige vloeistof. Farmaceutisch gebruik vereist de toepasselijke farmacopeekwaliteit.
