Natriumlauroylmethylisethionaat verschijnt als witte vlokken, korrels of een heldere vloeistof. Natriumlauroylmethylisethionaat, ook wel SLMI genoemd, is een milde oppervlakteactieve stof. Het wordt gebruikt in sulfaatvrije shampoos en lichaamswassingen. Het is in water oplosbaar en zorgt voor een dicht, romig schuim. De toepassingen zijn onder meer heldere vloeibare shampoos en lichaamswassingen. Cosmetisch gebruik is onderworpen aan de voor het ingrediënt geldende cosmeticavoorwaarden.
