2-Hydroxyethyl acrylate is used mainly as a co-monomer in the manufacture of polymers and as a reactant for chemical intermediates. It is a functional monomer for thermosetting acrylic resins and a cross-linking agent in heat-cured paints, adhesives and textile preparations. It is a colourless liquid with a sweetish odour.
