Benzotriazole, or BTA, is a corrosion inhibitor for copper and copper alloys. It forms a protective film on metal surfaces in cooling-water systems and antifreeze. Other applications include lubricants and metalworking fluids. It also serves as an intermediate for ultraviolet stabilisers. The material is an odourless, white to light brown crystalline powder. The recorded grade is technical. Packaging formats include 25 kg bags and 25 kg fibre drums.
