Calcium hypochlorite is a solid chlorine-releasing agent. It is used as an industrial disinfectant and water sanitiser in municipal treatment and swimming pools. Other applications include sewer and wastewater treatment and bleaching in household and industrial processes. It also serves in textile and paper bleaching. The material is a white to greyish-white granular solid with a chlorine odour. Available-chlorine content must be confirmed for the specified grade. Packaging formats include 40 kg and 45 kg plastic drums. Use in biocidal products depends on the applicable product authorisation.
