Diethyl phthalate is the diethyl ester of benzene-1,2-dicarboxylic acid. It is used as a plasticiser for cellulose acetate and celluloid. It is also used as a solvent for varnishes and dopes, as a fragrance vehicle and fixative, and in alcohol denaturing. It also serves as a carrier for cosmetic ingredients. Recorded grades are technical, cosmetic and pharma. Packaging formats include 200 kg steel drums and 1000 kg IBCs. Cosmetic use is subject to the applicable cosmetic-ingredient conditions.
