Ethylene glycol monobutyl ether, also known as butyl glycol, is a solvent and coupling agent. It is used in surface coatings, waterborne paints, inks, household and industrial cleaners, degreasers and hydraulic fluids. It also serves as a solvent in some cosmetic products. The material is a high-boiling liquid with a mild odour. Recorded grades include industrial, technical, cosmetic and high-purity. Cosmetic use is subject to the applicable cosmetic-ingredient conditions.
