Hydrofluoric acid is a colourless, fuming, mobile aqueous solution with a pungent odour. It is used in stainless steel pickling, glass etching, metal coatings, exotic metal extraction and quartz purification. Hydrogen fluoride is used in the production of most fluorine-containing chemicals.
