Iodopropynyl butylcarbamate (IPBC) is a broad-spectrum carbamate fungicide and preservative. It is used in paints, coatings, wood, adhesives, metalworking fluids and personal-care products. Its function in these applications is protection against fungal and microbial growth. Its water solubility is about 156 mg/L at 20 °C. Recorded packaging formats include 25 kg fibre drums and 500 kg big bags. Cosmetic use is subject to the applicable cosmetic-ingredient conditions. Use in biocidal products depends on the applicable product authorisation.
