Carnauba wax is a hard plant wax obtained from leaves of the palm Copernicia cerifera. It is used as glazing agent E903 in food and confectionery. Other applications include cosmetics and polishes. The material takes the form of pale yellow to brownish hard flakes or powder. Recorded grades are refined, food and cosmetic. Packaging formats include 25 kg bags, 500 kg big bags and bulk. Food use as E 903 is subject to the applicable food-additive specification and permitted-use conditions. Cosmetic use is subject to the applicable cosmetic-ingredient conditions.
