Ortho-phenylphenol (OPP) is a hydroxybiphenyl: biphenyl with a hydroxy group at position 2. It is a phenolic biocide used as a surface disinfectant, germicide and fungicide. It is also used as a preservative for textiles, leather and water-oil emulsions. It is also used as a post-harvest fungicide for citrus and other stored fruit and as a dye intermediate. It is a white to pale pink crystalline flake or powder. Use in biocidal products depends on the applicable product authorisation.
