A nonionic solubilizer and emulsifier derived from the reaction of castor oil with ethylene oxide. It is extensively used in pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations to solubilize lipophilic active pharmaceutical ingredients, vitamins, and essential oils in aqueous solutions.
