Sodium Lauryl Sulfate appears as white to off-white needles, powder or liquid. Sodium lauryl sulfate, abbreviated SLS, is an anionic surfactant. It is used as a detergent, foaming agent and emulsifier. It lowers the surface tension of aqueous solutions. Its applications include cosmetics, pharmaceutical formulations, toothpaste, metal processing and detergents, as well as wetting and dispersion in polymerisation systems.
