Citric acid anhydrous is a tricarboxylic acid found in citrus fruits. It is used as an acidulant and pH adjuster in food and beverages. Other applications include chelation and cleaning formulations, alongside pharmaceutical, cosmetic and industrial uses. The material forms colourless, odourless crystals with an acid taste. Recorded grades include food, pharma, USP, Ph. Eur. and technical. Packaging formats include 25 kg bags and 1000 kg big bags. Food use as E 330 is subject to the applicable food-additive specification and permitted-use conditions. Cosmetic use is subject to the applicable cosmetic-ingredient conditions. Pharmaceutical use requires the applicable pharmacopoeia grade.
