Triethyl citrate is an ester of citric acid used as a plasticiser for cellulose derivatives. Other recorded food functions include flavouring and surface activity. It is a clear, colourless oily liquid. The catalogue lists food, pharmaceutical, USP, technical and cosmetic grades in 25 kg drums, 200 kg drums and 1000 kg IBCs. Food use as E 1505 is subject to the applicable food-additive specification and permitted-use conditions. Cosmetic use is subject to the applicable cosmetic-ingredient conditions. Pharmaceutical use requires the applicable pharmacopoeia grade.
